.......... INTRODUCTION My name is Maureen Copping and for many years I had a market stall at the Old Loom Mill, Hailsham. Then after trading for a number of years I was asked to take my business elsewhere, so I now work from a webpage - www.maureenschoice.co.uk. I started to sell local history books when an author friend of mine asked me to stock their books, and as I am researching and writing local history myself, I felt the time was right to change over to books. I have now self published a book on Polegate history and working on other titles. The books I now stock are either written by Sussex authors or are about the County of Sussex, including history, railways, geology etc. Not all the books that I sell are on this website, so please contact me for an up to date catalogue of products. Our meetings are held at St Johns Church Hall, High Street, Polegate, BN26, doors opening at 6.45pm. The meeting starts at 7pm and finishes at 9 pm. We have a break in between for a raffle, tea and chat, and a chance to visit the bookstall and view some of the books on this website. Most of our meetings are on the third Friday of the month, apart from a few that have been altered to the second Friday as the hall is unavailable. Visitors and researchers welcome. Since then this world wide club has grown to include modern technology like cassette recorders with built in microphones, and emails via a computer. Corresponding is on a one to one basis, not an open channel. This club is open to members of all ages and gender from anywhere in the world. For a yearly subscription, currently at £8. Eight pounds sterling, per person, the club offers a directory of members, 4 copies a year of the printed magazine currently known as Chatterers World, which also features articles submitted by members and round robin section tapes on many different topics. 4 copies a year of the Sound Magazine which is made up from members own recordings.
